ΒΆ Multi-string vs Second WatchMon: What's different?
We have had a bit of confusion from customers lately surrounding Multi-string.
Multi-string is where a customer can manage multiple equivalent parallel banks using one (1) WatchMon supervisor.
The key to making multi-string work is that parallel banks need to be equivalent and managed together, with the same targets.
Requirements for equivalence might include:
- Same pack voltage
- Same battery chemistry
- Same SOC% (after the bank is balanced of course)
- Same capacity (Ah)
If any of the following below is needed, then this isn't multi-string.
You need to either eliminate the requirement or manage it with a separate WatchMon supervisor:
- Loads on one bank and not the others
- Circuit breaker for each bank
- Charging/Discharging only part whole system
- Each bank is located substantially apart
