¶ How to Set the Shunt Value for the 2000A via CANbus
At this stage you will need root access to your GX device to turn on a hidden setting. This carries risks:
- You may brick your device
- You are opening an attack vector to your GX, and need to harden your network accordingly
- Certain changes will be reset on a Victron firmware update

A future Victron software upgrade will remove the root requirement and implement a simple setting in the GUI
This process requires Software build 2.17.55 or newer, and matching firmware on your WatchMon
This requires recent Victron firmware, make sure you have updated it.

¶ 1. Navigate to the screen via the Hardware Menu option. Editing is only available when in 'Technician' mode.
¶ 2. Go to Integration and select the proper CANbus protocol (Victron GX). Click ‘Save’.
Victron should be running at least version 3 software or above.
¶ 3. Go to the Shunt tab and click ‘Edit’.
¶ 4. In the 'Type’ selection, choose ‘CANbus XXXA Inverter sensor’ for your shunt model (1000A, 2000A etc).
¶ 5. Specify the battery capacity Ah.
¶ 6. Click ‘Save’.
¶ 7. Configure your Victron system
- Enable DVCC, then
- Select the SmartShunt as your battery monitor, and
- Set Batrium-BMS as the controlling BMS
¶ 8. Enable sending of CAN Shunt data on your GX device
- Obtain root access to the GX
- Run
